Local Insights On Current Inshore Bites And Nearshore Success
Dauphin Island Bay - Mobile, AL
The inshore bite around Dauphin Island remains productive as we move through March. We are currently seeing a strong presence of Speckled Trout and Redfish throughout the marsh edges and over the oyster bars in Mobile Bay. Using live bait has been the most effective method this week, particularly during the incoming tides when the water movement is most consistent.
In addition to the steady inshore action, our seasonal trips have been finding plenty of Sheepshead near structure and bridge pilings. The quality of the fish remains high, benefiting from the region's expansive reef program. For families and beginners, the "Underdog" approach continues to focus on high-volume areas to keep the rods bending and ensure a successful day on the water.
Nearshore, we are anticipating the upcoming shift in species as the water temperatures continue to stabilize. While some species remain catch-and-release due to seasonal regulations, the sheer variety of life in the Gulf right now makes every trip out of Dauphin Island a worthwhile experience. Whether you are looking for a technical guided trip or a relaxed morning with the kids, the current conditions are ideal for getting out on the boat.
